This could be the next films about Middle-earth

English below

English version

So now Middle-Earth-adventures is finished. Great movies and interpretations of great books. But what can come next?
The problem is that Tolkien's relatives still has the film rights to the other books, and as it seems right now, no more than reluctant to sell them.
But you can wish that something happens. Here is my list of stories from the pen of Tolkien that can turn into really good and exciting films.

1. The fall of Gondolin.

This is a episode in the Silmarillion that is about the great elvenkingdom of Gondolin. A kingdom hidden from the world but that suddenly is discovered and besieged by evil armies. Like the siege of Minas Tirith fixed to the power of ten.

2. Beren and Luthien.

Yes, it is the same story that Aragorn humming about in The Lord of the Rings. Tragic love between an elvish woman and a mortal man and the story of how these breaks into evil abode and steal a divine gemstone.

3. Númenor.

Tolkien's own version of Atlantis. An island, or rather smaller continent, populated by the dunedains descendants (the old people that Aragorn was a part of). There are lots of different stories here. Unfortunately it is a bad ending when the island sinks into the sea due to numenoranerna trying to occupy the Gods. And whose fault is that if not Sauron, who else?

4. Forging of the Rings of Power.

Since prequelmovies are in the news, this could very well be an interesting and worth seeing history.

5. The last alliance's war against Mordor.

This is the battle we see in the beginning of the first Ringmovie. There are lots of stories that would make good movies here, and with an obvious final in the great battle of Barad-Dur.

Best horrorfilm for each decade

(English below)

1970-talet: Excorcisten (1973).

Åh, den var svår. 70-talet producerade en rad mästerskräckisar. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, Omen, Carrie, Hajen, Halloween, Alien.

1980-talet: The Shining (1980).

1990-talet: Blair Witch Project (1998).

2000-talet: Dawn of the Dead (2004).

English version:

Now, in times of days off I have amused myself by listing the best horror film of each decade since the 1960s. Here comes the list.

1960: Psycho (1960).

No significant competition really. Psycho would be high even on a list of the best horror films of all time. In my view, perhaps one of Hitchkocks best films ever. Maybe the greatest thing about it is to  kill the main character after half the film, something pretty unique in the history of cinema. There you can talk unpredictability. As I said there is not much competition in this decade. Night of the Living Dead is worth mentioning, otherwise it was just remakes from the 50s and a series of Roger Corman interpretations of Edgar Allan Poe.

1970: The Excorcist (1973).

Oh, it was difficult. 70s produced a series of master horror movies. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, Omen, Carrie, Jaws, Halloween, Alien. You name it.
But I choose The Excorcist though it still is the one who gave me the greatest experience. Despite the fact that almost the entire film takes place in a room, it is precisely this that makes it so nasty. Evil is there all the time and you never know what it's going to do. And how nasty isn't Linda Blair's makeup. Not to mention the peasoup...

1980s: The Shining (1980).

Yes, I know, Stephen King hated Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece, but regardless, it was a masterpiece. The twins, the hallways, the distant hotel, Jack Nicholson's best role.
"Here's Johnny!" The killer entrance of a deranged husband.
It was also the decade when several major horror movie series was born. Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th and Child's Play is the most famous. Worth mentioning is also The Thing, Reanimator, Poltergeist and The Evil Dead.

1990s: The Blair Witch Project (1998).

The big breakthrough for the Founding footage genre. With trembling camera, no special effects at all and a budget of less than Vatican alcoholconsumtion made box office records. And I agree. The film gives a sense of uncertainty, which is precisely what a horror film should do. Other films worth mentioning are the Scream, Silence of the Lambs, The Sixth Sense, Seven and It.

2000s: Dawn of the Dead (2004).

I can not help but to appoint a remake of the best horror in the 2000s. The entire introduction is fantastic and Zack Snyder keeps his grip on the audience throughout the film. Zombies have never been so dangerous - and so fast. Other films worth mentioning are Let the Right One In, 28 days later, Rec, Ringu, The Grudge, The Saw-series and Hostel.

Bästa tv-serierna just nu

God Jul allihop! (english below)
1. The Walking Dead.

English:
Merry Christmas everyone!
Great to be off for a few days. It is a bit sad though that many of the American TV series taken a break for a few months. But while waiting for them I might as well list the best TV series right now.
5. Constantine.
The new series of the magician and demon hunter Constantine is better than I thought. They have found the right feeling and Matt Ryan as John Constantine is really good. I am relieved that they did not continue with Keanu Reeves-layup as in the 2005 film, but instead affirms british slob.
4. Flash.
When I saw the first pictures of Grant Gustin wearing the red suit, I could not help but take me on the forehead and exclaim, Oh my God! But now when I looked at half the season, I have completely surrendered. The light-hearted tone, brightness, Gustin's always happy mood and good stories make it worth seeing. Despite the pastel colors it work and makes you feel good afterwards. I think they chose the right tone for just that kind of superhero.
3. Arrow.
The Big sibling to Flash is almost the exact opposite. A green Batman using arrows. Darkness, death and Ras al Ghul. Yet it worked with the crossover of the two series, where also the two nerd scientists Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon from Flash series in talks with Arrows Felicity Smoak and Roy Harper just commented this. "For us it has not felt as real, perhaps because we are dealing with people with super powers".
2. Big Bang Theory.
The series that took over the title of best comedy series after Friends, in my opinion. Carved characters, unpredictable and at the same time really funny.
1. The Walking Dead.
The best series in living memory is a splatter-apocalyptic zombie drama, who could believe it? Deep characters, constant surprises and hordes of zombies everywhere. Could it be better?

English version

The Age of Superheroes

We are in a very interesting trend in film and television. I am thinking mainly of the very successful Marvel films. In recent years, the public has become acquainted with heroes from Iron Man (Iron Man, as he was known in Swedish comics in the 80s) to the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Everything takes place in the same universe, and even a TV series (Agents of Shield) is set in the same world.
Since I'm an old superhero nerd, I can not help but embrace and really read everything that has to do with this. In a way, Marvel has introduced something completely new and unique film-television world, to tie it all together in the same world and let both films and television series reconnect with each other.
I like the idea and it works well with the Marvel comic book adventures where the Hulk could sometimes take on Spider-Man or the Fantastic Four. So far it seems that it's working. The only question is for how long?

However, the DC Comics chosen a slightly different way. Here, too, one begins to build a world around the first Superman as manifested in the next film Superman vs Batman. But here the movieverse seems to be separated from tv-verse. There is no connection to the two television series about Arrow and Flash, who in the comics are set in the same universe.
When it comes to Batman it seems like it will be a reboot once again. Any connection to Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy seems not to exist. This feels a bit sad in a way, considering that the trilogy, in my opinion, really is the ultimate Batman interpretation on film. In one way you really want Nolans world to stick around in this new DC-world, but unfortunately there seems not be the case.
Actually, it would not be impossible given that Batman in the new film seems to be portrayed as an older and slightly worn Batman. From this perspective, the character very well could have been a result of the earlier films (if you then can give a good explanation how he survived the bomb in the third film).

My dream had been to Ben Affleck's Batman is an older Christian Bale's Batman who put the bat wings on the shelf for a few years, but then for some reason must suit up again for some reason. However, the DC also announced another film in the same universe, Suicide Squad. A film about a collection of superhero villains who saves the world. The film will apparently be taking place in the same universe as Superman vs Batman. Among members in this gang are also the Joker which is a pretty clear indication that they abandoned Nolan universe (if there isn't a way to make Heath Ledgers Joker escape from Arkham or something, but it sounds both far-fetched and sad. No one should touch Ledger's Joker).

English version:

The worst changes in the Lord of the Rings

Peter Jackson's movie version is fantastic in every way and that there will be changes from the book is of course inevitable. But there are some changes that I think is so big that they actually make the movie worse and in some cases completely change the characters too much.
Below I list the five worst changes that the film could well do without:

5. The removal of the hobbits adventure in the barrow-downs.
In the book Frodo and the other hobbits finding their self trapped in the barrow-downs and loses almost their lives if it wheren´t for Tom Bombadil. It isn't only an exciting part of their adventures  but it's also explains why Merry's sword hurt nazgülen in the Battle of Pelennors plain. The introduction of Tom Bombadil specifically for this kind of scene had not worked but another rescue of the Hobbits wouldn't be impossible for Jackson.
4. The removal of the Battle of Shire.
I know, Return of the King has far too many end, and now I am calling another. But the battle for the Shire is important and something that summons up Tolkiens whole idea into one little adventure. Full Ring trilogy permeated the nature of Tolkien's romantic worldview in which modernity industrial development is emerging as destructive symbolized by Saruman's doings. The battle for the Shire aim is precisely this, to protect the old and untouched and fight against industrial destructive forces. Of course, now we're talking about another half hour. But as a supplement to the extended version, perhaps at the expense of other complementary scenes?
3. Frodo and Sam brought to Osgiliath.
Stupid and quite unnecessary.
2. Elves help at Helm's Deep.
"The last alliance between humans and elves," said Galadriel in the beginning of the first film. But apparently not. And Jackson's death on the elf Haldir. And how the hell could this elvish army get so fast from Lorien to Helm's Deep?
1. Turning the Ents into idiots.
This is in my opinion, perhaps the largest overshoot of them all. That the Ents, ancient trees creatures, depicted as leisurely and slow agrees well with the book, but that they also would be total idiots was never Tolkiens purpose. On the contrary the Ents is creatures full of Wisdom, even greater than Gandalfs in some ways. Treebeard has eye on Saruman's doings and at the Entmoot they also decided to intervene. But in the movie they doesn't give a shit. It's not until Pippin gets Treebeard to wander south and discover clearcuts that they figure out what happened. Anything to get an extra dramaturgical dispute, however, at the expense of Tolkien's entire idea of what the Ents really is. Change the whole episode - on the stump!
